Reading the dashboard

The dashboard has two states. With no patient selected, it shows a clinic-wide view of activity, recent patients, and anyone flagged for follow-up. With a patient selected, it shows that patient's most recent visit, their longitudinal trends per metric, and the LSI radar. This walks through what every tile, table, and chart on those views is actually telling you.

The dashboard does two jobs depending on whether a patient is selected. When the patient selector is empty, it gives you a clinic-wide picture: how many patients are active, what's happened this month, who needs follow-up. When a patient is selected, it switches to that patient's view: their latest visit summary, longitudinal trends per metric, the LSI radar, custom metric history, and the full assessment timeline. This article walks through both views, top to bottom, and points out which surfaces have non-obvious behavior worth understanding before you start interpreting numbers.

The clinic-wide view

With no patient selected, the dashboard opens with four KPI tiles across the top:

  • Patients. Total patient count. Clicking the tile takes you to the patient list.
  • Total Sessions. Cumulative session count across the clinic, all time. Includes both file uploads and live captures. Does not include IsoForge training sessions; those are tracked separately and don't roll into the assessment count.
  • This Month. Sessions recorded in the current calendar month. The free tier limit is 10 sessions per month, so this tile doubles as your usage gauge on the free plan.
  • Flagged. Count of patients who meet either of the follow-up criteria below. Tile turns amber when non-zero.

Underneath, the Free Tier banner shows usage against the 5-patient and 10-sessions-per-month caps. The banner only renders on the free plan; paid clinics never see it.

The next row is two cards side by side:

Recent Patients lists the six most recently active patients in the clinic, ordered by last-session date. Each row shows the patient's code, the joint and action of their most recent assessment, an LSI badge from their latest bilateral test, and the date. Clicking a row selects that patient and switches the dashboard to the patient view.

Flagged is the action-prompt card. A patient appears here if either:

  • Their most recent bilateral LSI is below 90%, or
  • They have at least one prior session and no new session in the last 30 days.

Both criteria are clinically conservative. The 90% LSI threshold is the lower end of what return-to-sport literature considers acceptable for symmetry on key strength metrics; below that, the patient is not yet ready. The 30-day inactivity threshold catches patients who've fallen off the rehab schedule. Each flagged row shows the reason (LSI value, days inactive, or both) so you can triage at a glance.

The patient view

Selecting a patient switches the dashboard layout. The header shows the patient code, their involved side if entered, and any tags assigned to them. Below the header is the unit-control bar; everything else on the page reads in whatever units that bar is set to.

Unit controls

  • Force / Torque toggle. The default is torque (Nm). If the patient has no height entered, the toggle disables and the dashboard falls back to force units, because torque conversion needs height to estimate the moment arm. Enter height on the patient profile and the toggle becomes available; existing sessions backfill on the next render.
  • Unit selector. Force in N, kg, or lbs. Torque in Nm, kgm, or ft-lbs. The selector affects display only; stored values stay in SI units regardless.
  • Mass Norm (/kg). Divides peak and RTD by bodyweight. The toggle is disabled if the patient has no bodyweight entered. nRMSE, CV, and Yank are dimensionless and unaffected by this toggle.
  • Visit selector. If the patient has more than one assessment visit, this dropdown lets you scroll between them. The selected visit is what the summary table and per-assessment cards below render.

Visit summary table

One row per joint and action tested in the selected visit. Columns show Left and Right values for the most informative metric (peak in the chosen unit), plus an LSI percentage if both sides were tested. Trials count beside each value tells you how many maximal-effort attempts went into the mean. The checkbox in the leftmost column expands a row into a detailed card below.

The values shown are means across all included trials. Excluded trials are pulled out before the mean is computed; deleted trials never existed. See when to exclude vs delete a trial for the distinction.

LSI radar and the headline number

The LSI panel shows the weighted overall, the metric with the lowest individual LSI right next to it, and a per-metric radar. The headline alone hides the asymmetry shape, which is why the lowest metric is always surfaced alongside it.

Three things on this panel are worth being explicit about:

  1. The weighted overall is capped at 100% per component before averaging. A patient who happens to be less variable on the involved side cannot push their overall LSI above symmetric. Variability metrics (nRMSE, CV, Yank) are inverted before averaging so that less variable on the involved side reads as more than 100% on that metric specifically, but it's capped before contributing to the headline.

  2. The "lowest" line beside the headline is the most important value on the panel. A green overall LSI can mask a red individual component. If peak is at 96% and RTD Early is at 70%, the headline reads 87%, which is amber. The "lowest" line surfaces the 70% so you don't miss it.

  3. The radar shows the asymmetry shape, not just the magnitude. A patient who's weak on the involved side across the board has a small uniform radar. A patient who's asymmetric only on RTD has a dent in one corner. The shape changes how you'd progress their rehab even when the headline is the same.

Metric trend grid

Below the LSI panel, the metric trend grid shows six sparklines, one per metric (peak, RTD Early, RTD Late, nRMSE, CV, Yank). Each sparkline plots the patient's value over time, with the involved side and the uninvolved side overlaid. Hovering shows the exact value at that point.

A 10% change from the patient's baseline is visually highlighted because that's the threshold the literature commonly uses for clinically meaningful change. The platform doesn't interpret the change; it surfaces it. You decide whether a 12% improvement on RTD Early between two visits is treatment effect or measurement variability, and the sampling rate article is the right thing to read alongside that decision.

If you've entered any custom metrics for this patient (hop tests, surveys, range of motion, anything from the custom metrics catalog), they appear in their own section below the strength metrics. Layout is similar: one chart per metric, plotted over time. Custom metrics don't participate in LSI computation; they're tracked alongside the strength data, not blended into it.

Assessment history

The bottom of the patient view is a tabular session list, one row per session. Each row shows the date, the joint and action, which side, the trial count, the headline metric value, and an indicator if there are clinical notes on the session. Clicking a row opens the session detail page.

This is the audit trail. Excluded trials show up but are visually de-emphasized; the row reflects the session as it actually happened, even when the means above were computed from a smaller trial set.

What "no data" states tell you

Several surfaces have empty states worth knowing about because they often indicate a missing patient field rather than missing data:

  • No LSI panel on a bilateral assessment. Usually means injuredSide is not set on the patient profile. See adding patients.
  • No torque display, only force. Patient has no height entered. The Nm toggle disables until height is set.
  • No Nm/kg normalized values. Patient has no bodyweight entered. The /kg toggle disables.
  • No post-op weeks indicator on rows. Patient has no injuryDate set. Sessions still aggregate normally; the timeline just stays absolute.

The platform never warns you in advance that a missing patient field is going to remove a surface. It just doesn't render the surface. If something you expected to see is missing, the patient profile is the first place to check.

What to do next

  • Spend a minute on a freshly captured patient before drawing conclusions. Click into the visit summary, expand the bilateral row, look at both the headline LSI and the lowest-metric line, scan the trend grid, and only then form an interpretation.
  • Hover the trend sparklines for exact values. The visual is for shape; the number that goes in the chart note is what's in the hover.
  • The Flagged card is a daily review surface, not an alert. Check it as part of your morning workflow rather than reacting to it as it fills.
