ForceIQ Cookie Policy

Last Updated and Effective: July 7, 2026

Version: 1.0

This Cookie Policy explains how ForceIQ, LLC ("ForceIQ," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website and use our Service. This policy should be read alongside our [Privacy Policy].

Your consent applies to the following domains and subdomains: forceiq.app and all subdomains

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. Cookies help the website recognize your device on subsequent visits and are used to make websites work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website you are visiting are called "third-party cookies."

How Does ForceIQ Use Cookies?

ForceIQ uses cookies and similar technologies for the purposes described below. We use first-party cookies for core functionality and may use limited third-party cookies for analytics purposes.

ForceIQ does not use advertising, marketing, or behavioral tracking cookies. We do not serve targeted advertisements.

Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Service to function. They enable core features such as authentication, session management, security, and navigation. Without these cookies, the Service cannot operate properly. You cannot opt out of these cookies.

Examples:

CookiePurposeDuration
Session IDMaintains your authenticated sessionSession
CSRF TokenProtects against cross-site request forgery attacksSession
Firebase AuthAuthentication state managementPersistent (per Firebase defaults)

Performance and Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. They collect aggregated, pseudonymized usage data such as pages visited, features used, and error occurrences.

Analytics Provider: PostHog (https://posthog.com)

Cookie / IdentifierPurposeDurationData Collected
PostHog distinct_idPseudonymous user identifier for usage analyticsPersistent (1 year)Hashed user ID — not name, email, or PHI
PostHog session_idGroups page views and events into a sessionSessionSession start/end timestamps

What PostHog analytics collects:

  • Pages visited and features used (e.g., "uploaded assessment," "generated report")
  • Session frequency and duration
  • Error rates and performance metrics
  • Browser type, OS, and screen resolution

What PostHog analytics does NOT collect:

  • Patient names, dates of birth, email addresses, or any PHI
  • Force/torque data, metric values, or clinical notes
  • Assessment files or session content

PostHog analytics cookies are only set if you consent during onboarding. You can change your analytics preference at any time in Settings. We also respect your browser's Do Not Track setting — if set, PostHog is not initialized.

Functionality Cookies

These cookies remember your preferences and settings to provide an enhanced, personalized experience.

Cookie / Storage KeyPurposeDuration
forceiq-authStores authentication state (user ID, email, clinic ID)Persistent (localStorage)
forceiq-onboardingStores clinic profile (name, logo, contact info, analytics consent)Persistent (localStorage)
forceiq-preferencesStores display preferences (force/torque units, mass normalization)Persistent (localStorage)

Note: ForceIQ uses browser localStorage rather than traditional cookies for most functionality data. localStorage data never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to our servers with each request.

Other Tracking Technologies

Log Files

Our servers automatically record information including IP addresses, browser types, referring URLs, and access times. This information is used in aggregate to analyze usage patterns, administer the Service, and diagnose technical issues.

Analytics Identifiers

We may use pseudonymous identifiers to understand usage patterns across sessions. These identifiers do not directly identify you.

PostHog Analytics:

  • What is collected: Pseudonymous usage events (pages visited, features used, session counts), browser/OS metadata, error rates. All identifiers are hashed — no direct personal identifiers are sent.
  • What is NOT collected: Patient data, force/torque measurements, clinical notes, names, dates of birth, email addresses, or any PHI.
  • Retention: Identifiable analytics data retained for up to 2 years. Aggregated data retained indefinitely.
  • Opt-out: Decline analytics consent during onboarding, or toggle it off at any time in Settings → Clinic → Analytics. ForceIQ also respects the browser Do Not Track (DNT) header — if set, PostHog is not initialized.

Google Cloud Logging: ForceIQ's server infrastructure records operational events (server-side errors, performance timings) in Google Cloud Logging within our HIPAA-covered Google Cloud environment. These are server-side logs only — they set no cookies or identifiers on your device and contain no PHI or clinical content.

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

Browser Settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically find these settings in the "Options," "Preferences," or "Settings" menu of your browser. The following links provide information on how to manage cookies in common browsers:

Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Service. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

In-App Cookie Settings

During onboarding, ForceIQ presents an analytics disclosure and consent checkbox. You can change your analytics consent at any time by navigating to Settings → Clinic → Analytics. Disabling analytics consent suppresses all PostHog tracking. Strictly necessary cookies and localStorage functionality data cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

Do Not Track

ForceIQ respects the "Do Not Track" ("DNT") browser signal. When DNT is enabled, ForceIQ will not initialize PostHog analytics or set any performance/analytics cookies. Strictly necessary cookies and localStorage functionality data are unaffected by DNT, as they are required for the Service to operate.

Updates to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically.
